I want you to imagine that there exists a great problem,
One that is far reaching.
I want you to imagine that this problem is systemic and unsustainable.
I want you to imagine that this system is wrong,
And that all this system needs in order to topple is an anomaly,
An anomaly which is so glaringly obvious,
So absurdly wrong,
That for the system to not change, would be evil.
And imagine,
That this anomaly is one person,
One person who chooses to stand forthrightly,
In the face of everything that would be thrown at them.
And I want you to imagine also,
That this person, who stands forthrightly,
Knows not the difference they will make.
Knows not the outcome they will produce.
Knows not how much else will be taken.
Knows not the meaning of any of it.
But knows only that they stand for truth.
And finally, imagine,
That this person,
Who stands forthrightly,
Who stands in the face of such great adversity,
Who pushes but does not give,
Who falls and gets back up,
Who loses far too much,
Who stands in the name of truth,
Who knows nothing of the pivotal role they have played!
…Wins.
And imagine,
That it could have been no other.
